HISTORY
OF THE BRUCK BOWL
The BRUCK
BOWL is a fictitious football bowl name created for bragging rights to the
REAL annual football game between the UCLA “BRUINS” and the UNIVERSITY OF OREGON “DUCKS”.
The name “BRUCK”
is derived from portions of the names
B
R U
I N S and
D U
C K
S.
The
BRUCK BOWL was co-founded in 1998 by Ed Rondo of Eugene, Oregon and George
Santos of Cambria, California. Ed
and George are rabid fans of the DUCKS and BRUINS respectively. We are long-time friends except when it comes to game day.
Our wives, Patricia Rondo and Heide Santos have given indulgent
approval of the bowl game concept.
We
are all transplants after lengthy careers together in Southern California.
However, we originally came to Southern California from different
places: Ed is originally from New Jersey, and now semi-retired and a
successful author. Patricia grew up in South Dakota, still fully employed, too young for
retirement; George was raised in Rhode Island and is now fully retired; Heide
is from Germany, also retired.
Ed
Rondo now has a novel in publication. The book is titled: "Time
Zone". It is an action/adventure/spy novel that takes place
primarily in the remote Kerguelen Islands in the cold, windblown, southern
Indian Ocean. "Time Zone" is being published by Publish
America and was released in 2003. Click to find out more about Ed's book, "Time Zone."
